Quiet, Lazy Sunday

Today has been one of those days where I can't seem to get too interested in anything. I did manage to finish the last 10 pages of John Grisham's book "Sycamore Row". By the way this was a wonderful read. I highly recommend it. I have picked up and put down my knitting numerous times today. I can't seem to get into anything on the television...nothing interests me. It bothers me because I am fully aware that we only have so much time on this earth. I hate wasting days! HATE. I do feel like I have completely wasted a day that I will never get back. I also have to admit that the joints are so achy today. Even my fingers feel like they are twice the size as normal but they are not. Well, I need to go fix dinner and then try to force myself to knit some. I am test knitting a hat pattern for someone and really need to get through it. I am enjoying the pattern and hope to make some more. Yes, I am making it in very soft yarns so it can be a chemo cap for Baltimore-Chesapeake Head Huggers Group!

Making Money online

I am trying to find true legitimate ways to earn money either telecommuting or on-line. The problem is that so many sites are scams. I have started to blog on Bubblews.com. They will pay out at $50.00 but at first it takes a really long time to get to the $50 mark. I am also chatting on Chatabout.com. I have signed up for numerous sites to try to get transcription jobs as well. Please feel free to comment if you have any other legitimate work at home ideas.

Baby's Sleeping Sack

Baby Sleeping Sack Items Needed: Size 7 circular Needles Suze 7 DPN set 1 skein of orange COMFORT DK (color A) 1 SKein of Pink COMFORT DK (color B) 1 skein of Zarina total Easy Care Color 1719 (color C) 1 Skein of Cool Wool color 11 (color D) DIRECTIONS: Cast on with yarn C 110 stitches. Join making sure the stitches are not twisted. knit 1 Round Purl 1 Round Change to Color A. knit 1 Round Purl 1 Round Change to Color D knit 1 Round Purl 1 Round Change to Color B. knit 1 Round Purl 1 Round Change to Color C and knit 4 Rounds. Change to Color A and knit 4 rounds. Change to Color D and knit 4 Rounds. Change to Color B and Knit 4 Rounds. You continue this pattern until you have knitted 22 1/2 inches. (If you are making for a smaller baby you can knit until 19 1/2 inches). Decrease: Continuing with the color pattern: Knit 9 stitches, ssk next stitch. Continue doing this through the round Knit next round Knit 8 stitches, ssk next stitch. Continue doing this through this round Knit next round Knit 7 stitches, ssk next stitch. Mini Snowman

Here is a design I created today: Mini Snowman Size 5 needles DK weight yarn (1 skein will probably make 5-6 snowman) white Scraps of yarn to make hats and scarfs With White yarn, cast on 10 stitches Row 1: K1, M1 in each stitch (20 stitches) Row 2: purl Row 3: K1, M1 in each stitch (40 stitches) Row 4: Purl Rows 5-23: Stockinette Stitch (ending with a purl row) Row 24: * K2, k2tog* repeat across Row 25: purl Row 26: *K1, k2tog* repeat across Row 27 – 39: stockinette stitch (ending with a purl row) Row 40: * K2, k2tog* repeat across Row: 41: Purl Row 42: *K1, k2tog* repeat across Cut yarn leaving a 12” tail, with a tapestry needle draw the yarn through the remaining stitches and draw the stitches together. Using the same yarn, sew the back of the snowman. Stuff the snowman and then draw the yarn through the bottom stitches, drawing the bottom closed. You can either use small eyes or use black yarn to embroider eyes on. Hat: Cast on 24 stitches Rows 1: knit 2, purl 2 Row 2: knit 2, purl 2 Rows 3-6: repeat rows 1 and 2 Row 7-19 stockinette stitch (ending with a purl row) Row 20: *k2, k2tog* repeat across Row 21: Purl Row 22: * k1, k2tog* repeat across Row 23: Purl Row 24: Repeat Row 20 Row: 25 Purl Row 26: Knit Row 27: Purl Row 28: Repeat Row 22 Row 29: Purl Row 30: Knit Row 31: Purl Row 32: Repeat row 20 Row 33: Purl Row 34: Repeat Row 22 Row 35: Purl Row 36: K2tog across Cut a 12” tail of yarn. Either make or use a pre-made pompom and sew it at the tip of the hat. Scarf Cast on 4 Rows 1-4 knit Row 5: knit 1, wrap the yarn 2x knit in next 2 stitches, wrap yarn 2x, knit 1 Row 6: knit 1, drop wrapped yarn, knit 2, drop wrapped yarn, knit 1 Repeat rows 1-6 until scarf is desired length.

I have busy knitting for Chrismas

It has been quite a while since I have blogged something. I want to share some of the knitting I have done over the last few month.

It has been awhile- Knitting

I had not realized just how long it has been since I blogged about anything, much less my knitting. I have been on a knitting frenzy over the last few months. I am beginning to realize that I can conquer patterns I did not think I could before.

Friends and family all seem to be having baby booms so I have been knitting a lot of baby items. I knitted this round blanket for a co-worker's granddaughter that turned 1 2 days ago. I thought I had a picture of it but apparently don't. :( It was light pink with a yellow center.

My oldest daughter and her husband are expecting their first child (Annabel Rose) any day now. Needless to say I have been keeping busy with my knitting for our newest little princess. I made a flower afghan and a sweater. The sweater is the first one I have ever made and will make more. I found the confidence in sweater making by this first little one. Here are the pictures of the blanket and sweater:




Once I made the sweater for Annabel, my oldest granddaughter, Alia, wanted a sweater also. I made it for her but have not seen her since I finished it to see if it fits. I hope to see her this weekend.


I am determined to lower my yarn stash so I am trying to make as many projects out of the yarn I have instead of buying. I am working on a knitting needle case for a friend that also knits. I am using left over yarn from a book bag project I made years ago. By the way, the little sweater for Annabel was made from left over yarns from a project I made when Alia was born. Alia will be 5 years old in April. Time just flies by.

I am also starting to think about little knit projects I can make for Christmas gifts for next year. It is never to soon to think about Christmas if you are making gifts.

Many Changes!!!!

I had not realized how long it had been since I posted on here until my boyfriend asked me last night if I had posted anything on my blog recently. There have been so many changes going on in my life over the last couple of months I don't know where exactly to start...

I will start with the most significant change. Jim and I have decided to co-habitat or as he refers it as "shacking up". I have been in the process of clearing out my apartment and deciding what I want or need to take with me and what I can dispose of. It is absolutely amazing how much stuff can be crammed into closets and under beds when you are living somewhere for any length of time! Goodwill is going to love me over the next month. I have decided that most of the furniture can be either sold or donated. My late husband and I purchased most of the items in the apartment together and I really want to start "fresh" with Jim. I don't want to have constant reminders of the past while I am working on starting a new life with such a wonderful man. While I am busy working on my apartment we are also busy getting Jim's house organized so we can combine households. I never thought about how time consuming combining two lives can be. :) However, I am loving each and every moment we spend doing this because we are doing it together. In case you haven't figured it out, I am madly, deeply in love with this man!!!!!

One of the side effects of living in Millersville now is I am not watching any television. Jim does not own a tv and doesn't have cable. As of now, I am not really missing watching it (except for watching the Ravens games). It is interesting to see what other things a person can do when there is no television to take up hours of time at a clip. I have read more books recently than I have in years (and I have always been an avid reader). I am also pulling out my crafting supplies and getting back into the activities that I have always loved. Eventually, I would like to go back to school but I want to get settled in here first. I also want to start volunteering somewhere to help those less fortunate than myself.

As things settle down, I will keep you posted on what is occurring in my life.

One Month After my Nest emptied

Here is one month later and I am still trying to adjust to the ability to do whatever I want, whenever I want. I do love not having to answer to someone else; however, I have found it is a little lonely coming home and not having anyone here. I truely miss having a significant other caring whether I am home or not. Even having my youngest daughter living with me was nice because she would call to see what I was doing before I headed home from work.

I am finding that I am spending way too much time on the computer so I am in the process of finding new things to do by myself. I have read quite a few books and am working a crochet project as a gift. Once I give it to the person, I will post a picture of it on here. :) Well I better get back to the crocheting. I will keep you posted on my "new" life!
